Aberdeen Fire Department responds to residential Monday morning
Mon, 03 Mar 2008 8:50:45 PSTAberdeen Fire dept responded to a residential structure fire at 1:09 this morning in the 1700 block of Morgan.
No injuries were reported, however damages have been estimated at 30,000 dollars.
Initial inspection indicates the fire began in the wall where the chimney ran; due to older building code and construction the chimney was dangerously close to wall studs, which broke down over time through a process known as
pyrolysis(pie-roll-uh-sys), or the composition due to exposure to high heat, leading to a more combustible fuel in the walls, which sparked early this morning and spread through the ceiling to the backside of the bedroom. The homeowner discovered the fire and called 911. Again; No injuries were reported, damages were estimated at 30,000 dollars.
