^NY beach at Tanner Park closed due to contamination<

NEW YORK (AP) _ Health officials on Long Island say the beach at
Tanner Park has been closed to swimming because of contamination.

Suffolk County Health Department officials recently found high
levels of bacteria in the water at the Copiague (COH-Payg) beach.
They believe the contamination at Tanner Park beach was caused by
stormwater runoff from recent rains.

Beachgoers may still sit on the beach at Tanner Park, they just
can't go into the water.

Suffolk officials say the beach at Miller Place Park, in Miller
Place, has been reopened. Tests showed the water quality at the
Miller Place beach to be within acceptable limits.
